The South Carolina Department of Social Services with grant support from The Duke Endowment has partnered with the Southern Institute on Children and Families in the implementation of the Child Abuse & Neglect Services Quality Improvement Project. The 14-month project includes a county internal process improvement component and a community engagement component. The goal of the project is to produce significant improvements in the delivery of child protective services (CPS) in Hampton and Greenwood Counties that can serve as a blueprint for spreading improvements to other South Carolina counties.
In each county a process improvement team will determine root causes of inefficient or ineffective performance in the child protective services system. Improvements will be made in the process to enable CPS staff to meet or exceed required standards in order to achieve a higher quality of service. In addition, Quality Improvement Coalitions in the two counties will build community support for actions that improve the lives of children in the child protective services system.
